I don’t want to bulk up from lifting weights.
This fear has been circulating for years, and it’s time we put it to rest.
Unless your goal is to get bulky, chances are you don’t need to worry about it. The time, energy, specific programming and nutrition it takes to add bulky muscles to a frame is a lot more than what most people are willing to do. And completely unnecessary for most.
We all have muscle. Some have more of it, and some have less. Genetics, workout intensity and consistency, and diet and nutrition all play a part in how much each person has or gains. Our muscles are meant to help us be functional and capable human beings. But we often get caught up in the appearance of our muscles – and the fear of them getting too bulky. On the contrary, some worry that their muscles aren’t big enough!
Our goal is to focus less on the aesthetics of our muscles and rather focus more on feeling empowered and capable of achieving things we never thought possible. Of course, if having bulky muscles makes you feel empowered, we can help with that too. To each their own.
You’ve heard it said that media is a space for everyone to roll their highlight reel, right? Well, it’s true. If the fear of building bulky muscle has held you back from joining a gym or adding exercise to your daily routine, you can stop worrying. What we see on social media is usually a highlight reel of “gym people” with massive muscle… why? Because that is what sells and that is what most gym and fitness companies think people want. So that is what they show. But again, the majority of us will never look like the people in magazines or social media adds. Unless we dedicate ourselves to that purpose.
Once you start focusing on what your body can do and not only what it will look like, you can then enjoy your body and your overall health for the blessing that it is. Who doesn’t want to feel strong and capable, and healthy? Our goal is to help you get there.
