Know Your Worth

In life, the greatest gift you can give to yourself is knowing your self-worth and standing up for what you believe you deserve.  Doubting oneself is commonly caused by the environment, past experiences, failures and insecurities. Gradual growth of technology also contributes to lowering our self-esteem.  Since we are constantly surrounded by technology, what we see or hear in the online world, we sometimes can’t help but compare ourselves and envying what others have accomplished. It’s easy to compare how your friends, family, or colleagues reached their dreams in such a short period of time while you are struggling, just trying to cope with life. We know that this can make you question your worth.

Establish your sense of self-worth.

Start by working on building your confidence and having faith in yourself. We lose confidence by simply thinking that we haven’t achieved anything yet. But come to think of it, where you are standing now, how much stronger and wiser you have become than younger you, is something to celebrate. It’s not always easy to be confident in yourself, particularly if you’re always minding what people think of you.

For some, fitting in is necessary for survival. Love yourself, no one is ever going to value you more than you value yourself. Don’t let yourself spend too much time and energy worrying about what other people think of you. Sure, we want to feel accepted and don’t want other people to be disappointed in us. But is it really worth it to lose yourself just to please others?

Have that “I’m worthy” mentality. Be honest with yourself, accept your flaws and shortcomings. Instead of drowning yourself in anxiety by the mistakes and regrets that you obviously can no longer change, learn from it. Avoid envying others, whether on achievements, relationships or physically. Believe in God’s plan and perfect timing for you.  Always keep in mind that everyone is on their own paths and we all have different timelines.

Looking back, if God gave you a smooth road in life, you wouldn’t be who you are today.
