Apple Cinnamon Oats

🍏Tasty Tip Tuesday🍏
.
We’ve heard it many times over the last year, with changes in workplaces (working from home!) and a big change to many people’s routine…
.
⁉️How do I stay on track at home when the fridge is a few steps away⁉️
.
One of our recommendations is to plan your meals just like you would if you packed your lunch for work each day. Of course, you don’t have to pre-portion and put everything in Tupperware (unless that helps you!), but sticking to a regular routine, and having a plan is essential for success.

Starting the day off with a good breakfast is important in making sure you are satisfied and not reaching for snacks every 5 minutes throughout the day. This apple cinnamon oatmeal is a great to do it – and it’s also a great way to use up any bruised or imperfect apples you may have laying around.
.
.
INGREDIENTS:
-4-5 apples (any kind will do)
-2 cups oats
-5 cinnamon sticks
-1 cup egg whites
-water (amount dependant on consistency that you like)
-drizzle of maple syrup
*Optional – almonds/walnuts/cashews to top
.
.
Directions:
Heat large pot to medium heat, and add in chopped apples and cinnamon sticks with enough water to cover. Let simmer until apples soften. Once apples are soft, add oats and more water as needed to cook. Once oats are cooked, slowly pour in egg white, and mix constantly until they are mixed in (they should not curdle or harden – the mix should become smooth and thick). Drizzle with maple syrup, and portion. Add optional nuts for an extra crunch and dose of healthy fats to keep you full and satisfied for the day!
