Blog Post 3 Tips to Motivation

3 Tips to Stay (or get) Motivated

This year has been very trying in many ways, and our health can sometimes take a back seat to other things. I want to give you three ways to develop some more motivation to maintain your fitness or, even better, accelerate it through 2020.

1. Find your why

Attach yourself to why you need to work out and prioritize your health and wellness. This is why it needs to be more than, “ I want to lose 30 lbs”. This is a great goal but it may not be enough to motivate you through the busy and stressful days you are facing. Write down something more all-encompassing. Like, “I want to be a good example to my kids.” Or, “I need to have the immunity and strength to fight off sickness.” These act as ropes that can help pull you through the mud of this year.

2. Find an accountability partner or group.

Things are easier when done together. In a group or simply committing to a friend on working out, having others depending on you, and cheering for you can make the challenging days easier. Whether it is together or far apart, find someone to hold you accountable. At GPHF, we pride ourselves in trying our best to create a motivating, encouraging, and caring support group, in person or online. All that being said, it doesn’t need to be with us. All we ask is that you find someone or a group to keep you moving forward. Because, truly, your health is the most important thing to us.

3. Invest in You

Your mind and your health are crucial to your wellbeing. So why do we have such a hard time investing our time, energy, and money into them? I believe it is because we can’t actually see our health/wellbeing deteriorating until it’s too late . Let me say this. It is happening. I don’t want to use scarcity, but I also don’t want to tiptoe around the truth. Many of the key cornerstones in our life take time to build up or tear down. Whether that is relational, spiritual, mental, or physical. These all take small consistent time to build up. Seemingly it can feel like we wake up and are X lbs over our ideal weight. That’s not how it happens. It takes time to get there. Once you are there, it will take time to get back. Don’t be discouraged. We are here to help you. Invest in your own coach and take away all the stress and wasted time from guessing. Those new pair of jeans can wait. Your body and mind can’t.

Take Action

All is for not if you don’t take action. The smallest actions trump the best intentions. We will make it very easy for you to take action. You can do all three, two, or just one. I only ask that you do one this week.

  1. Write down why you want to be healthier and fitter. Send it to me. I would love to hear.
  1. Find an accountability partner or group. We have an amazing one waiting for you if you need one. Virtually or in person. Sit down for a free meeting so we can help you find that.
  1. Invest in you. Whether you think of that as time, energy, or money. Invest in yourself. You are worth it.
