Replace “Can’t” With “How”

Replace key words in your vocabulary and it can make a big differece. For example, how often do you find yourself saying these words?

“I can’t do that.”

“That isn’t possible for me.”

Get out of your own way

When it comes to fitness, we can be our own worst enemy. However, if we can work on changing a few words in our vocabulary, it can drastically shift future outcomes.

Try this instead:

“How can I do that?”

“How do I make that possible?”

When you say the word “how” instead of “can’t” your brain begins to think of ways to make your goal happen. In contrast, when you verbalize “can’t,” you will stop looking for possibilities and you’ll be defeated before you even try.

“I could never lose 20 lbs.”

“I’ll never be able to do a pull-up.”

“I will never heal my injury.”

“I’m not someone who can work out in a gym.”

These are only a few examples of things that we hear in and outside the gym. Saying these things will never help you create the mindset to accomplish your goal. As soon as you say words like “can’t” or one like it, your brain stops working towards “how” you can do it.

“Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.” -Henry Ford
