There are two things to consider in this case. #1. You haven’t given it enough time. You’re likely doing everything right; working out consistently, and making great nutrition choices. But your expectations are higher than reality. OR… #2. You’re not being honest with yourself, and you might be slacking in the gym, or sneaking in a bit more of the fun food than you’re ready to admit.
So here is what we know… Focusing merely on working out won’t give you your desired result… we all know that. So you started watching what you eat, maybe even getting some nutrition coaching. But it’s been a few weeks and you haven’t noticed any changes….yet. Here is the thing. We live in a “right now” world, where are brains have been wired to believe that if something doesn’t happen immediately, it must not be right. But ask yourself this. How long as it taken for your body to get to where it is today? (ps. The answer is however old you are). Okay… so in what world should you set the expectation of yourself to get it where you want it to be in a few weeks? Give ya self a break! Give it some more time.
The alternative is true.
And in reality, you’re not actually putting the work in.
Do a real honest assessment.
How much effort/time have you put into movement in the last few weeks?
What have you put in your body today? Or yesterday? Or how about the day before that?
Maybe it is time to have a little reality check, and set some firm boundaries with yourself if your true goal is to make healthy change.
It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others, but keep in mind that everyone progresses at their own pace. Don’t forget to celebrate each accomplishment along the way, even if it’s just a small win. Reflect on your program and ensure you’re doing it to the best of your ability (notice that we didn’t say perfectly).
