There’s no question that having a strong mindset is important – it’s what allows us to overcome obstacles and persist through challenging times. But developing a strong mindset isn’t always easy. It takes time and effort to cultivate the proper mindset habits, and even then, there will be times when we struggle. Your mindset is one of the most important components to your success in any area of your life. Having the right mindset is key whether you’re trying to lose weight, build a business, have a stronger relationship, or simply become a more positive person. But what are the pillars of having a strong mindset? And how can you go about building one for yourself?
We consider a strong mindset to be… simply… having a strong mindset. Makes sense, right? However, in reality, it is our ability to attach ourselves to why we are doing something that serves as an anchor because transformation occurs when you can anchor yourself to why something is important. Learning your “WHY” is the first pillar and one of the most important aspects of developing a strong mindset.

What motivates you?
What is the deeper reason you wish to accomplish something?
If you don’t know your WHY, you’re more likely to give up when you encounter resistance or when things don’t go exactly as planned. It is where a lot of mindset stuff starts, beginning with the end in mind. Whatever you have that goal, and then you can kind of work backward. Your WHY should be very meaningful to you or working toward something greater than yourself. Once you have a bigger, greater purpose behind it all, then everything else becomes a little bit easier when you do get stuck (You will get stuck! Everyone does, and that is OKAY!).
The second pillar is language, and how you see yourself or your belief system. Our language can reveal a lot about our mindset. How we see ourselves or our beliefs system strongly reflects how successful we will be. Certain words and phrases can give us a strong sense of confidence or security, while others might make us feel less confident or vulnerable. It’s easy to get wrapped up in negative self-talk, telling yourself that you’re not good enough, smart enough, or whatever it may be. Although it’s tough to take them out and break out of that way of thinking, these thoughts are shaping how you view yourself and how you will present yourself. So you need to change some words you use; make them more positive and encouraging, and that will have a massive impact on the actions you take because… your beliefs dictate your actions!
And action is what it takes to elicit change in your life.
Once you’re starting to have a mindset shift, the way you talk to yourself, the next thing to consider is to look at things as an opportunity and try to be a beginner every single day. There’s a lot of pressure on us to be experts or perfect in everything; we’re supposed to know what we’re doing and have our lives completely figured out. But trying to be the expert all the time is exhausting. When you’re a beginner, when you are constantly learning, and in that way, we don’t put as much pressure on ourselves. The goal is not perfection but rather progress. It’s okay not to know things because there will always be room for improvement.
It’s not easy, but you can develop a strong mindset that will help you weather any storm with a bit of practice and these three essential pillars. Remember, it’s vital to be patient and take things one step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither are your goals. If you can focus on strengthening these three areas, you will be well on your way to developing a powerful mindset that will help you achieve anything you set your mind to.
